GC Pyrobel® 60: The Fire-Resistive Glazing Solution for Transparent Wall Assemblies.
When safety codes demand more than just flame containment, AGC Pyrobel® 60 delivers. This advanced fire-resistive glass provides a full 60 minutes of protection against flames, smoke, and dangerous radiant heat. Unlike standard fire-protective glass, Pyrobel® 60 is tested to ASTM E119 and UL 263 standards, making it a true barrier to heat transfer.
New Angle Beveling now brings this high-performance solution to the Northeast, allowing architects and glazers to create floor-to-ceiling transparent walls that meet the strictest fire codes without compromising on aesthetics.
Performance & Safety
A Barrier Against Heat
Standard fire-rated glass may stop flames, but it allows radiant heat to pass through, which can ignite materials on the “safe” side of the glass. AGC Pyrobel® 60 utilizes intumescent interlayers that turn opaque during a fire, effectively blocking radiant and conductive heat transfer. This ensures that the temperature on the non-fire side remains safe for egress and prevents fire spread.
Key Performance Features:
Fire Rating: 60 Minutes (Fire-Resistive / Temperature Rise)
Standards: UL 263, ASTM E119, UL 9, UL 10B/10C, NFPA 80, NFPA 252, NFPA 257
Impact Safety: CPSC 16CFR 1201 (Cat. I & II) and ANSI Z97.1
Hose Stream: Passed
Aesthetics & Comfort
Clear Views, Quiet Spaces
Safety doesn’t have to look institutional. Pyrobel® 60 is manufactured with low-iron glass and clear interlayers, offering high visible light transmission and a neutral appearance that blends seamlessly with non-rated glazing.
Superior Clarity: High visible light transmission (~87%) ensures bright, open interiors.
Acoustic Insulation: The multi-laminated construction provides excellent sound reduction (approx. 40–43 dB), making it ideal for schools, offices, and conference rooms.
Sustainability: Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) available, contributing to LEED® v4 credits.
