AGC Pyrobel® 90: Fire-Resistive Glazing for High-Performance Safety Walls.
For critical fire barriers and egress paths, AGC Pyrobel® 90 sets the standard for safety and transparency. Designed for 1.5-hour fire ratings, this advanced glazing solution does more than stop flames—it acts as a transparent wall that blocks the passage of dangerous radiant heat.
New Angle Beveling provides this UL-tested, fire-resistive glass to projects across the Northeast, allowing architects to maintain open sightlines in stairwells, corridors, and lobbies while meeting the most rigorous building codes.
The Fire-Resistive Advantage
ASTM E119 / UL 263 Compliant
At the 90-minute level, building codes often require “fire-resistive” performance, meaning the glass must function like a masonry wall to stop heat transfer. AGC Pyrobel® 90 is engineered with multiple intumescent interlayers. Under fire exposure, these layers expand to form a rigid, opaque heat shield.
This barrier limits the temperature rise on the unexposed side to less than 250°F above ambient temperature, protecting occupants from burns and preventing combustible materials from igniting on the “safe” side of the glass.
Key Safety Ratings:
Fire Rating: 90 Minutes (Fire-Resistive)
Heat Barrier: Blocks radiant and conductive heat
Impact Safety: CPSC 16CFR 1201 (Cat. I & II) and ANSI Z97.1
Hose Stream: Passed
Clarity & Acoustics
High Performance, Low Distraction
Despite its robust thickness and multi-laminated structure, Pyrobel® 90 maintains the aesthetic qualities of standard architectural glass. It allows light to flow freely through deep building cores without the greenish tint often associated with thick glass laminates.
Vision: High visible light transmission (~83%) using low-iron glass
Sound Control: Superior acoustic insulation (up to 44 dB), making it perfect for busy schools, hospitals, and office partitions
Sustainability: Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Silver and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) available for LEED® v4 credits
