Luxury Shower Enclosure Design

Nothing says luxury like custom-built pieces that tick all the boxes for a client’s design desires.

When it comes to glass shower panels, custom options are nearly limitless. Steps to creating a one-of-a-kind enclosure with a glass vendor include:

  1. Choose your glass
  2. Provide your dimensions and specifications
  3. Finish the details

1. Choose Your Glass

A number of glass options are available to suit a client’s aesthetic:

2. Provide Your Dimensions & Specifications

Provide your glass vendor exact dimensions and specifications for the best results possible.

Most glass can be cut into unique shapes, curves, and other forms that go beyond the standard rectangular and square cuts. Experienced glass fabricators with the right tools – computer-aided design (CAD) and waterjet cutting technology – deliver highly accurate pieces.

Remember to let your manufacturer know up-front about special cut-out needs for hinges and other hardware.

3. Finish the Details

Add a level of sophistication to your glass shower enclosure with detailing that will make it really shine.

Custom edgework finishes a piece and fulfills safety, performance, and cleanliness needs. Consider finishing edgework such as:

  • Beveled edge
  • Mitred edge
  • Flat edge
  • Pencil edge
  • Bullnose edge
  • Ogee edge
  • Waterfall

Another option for finishing your shower enclosure: V-grooving. It adds depth and artistry that isn’t seen in store-bought glass showers.

Choose Glass for Style, Function, & Durability

A custom glass panel shower enclosure offers several benefits for property looking to upgrade their bathroom. These include:

  • Aesthetic appeal: Give an elegant and modern look, enhancing the overall appearance of a bathroom. They can be tailored to match specific design preferences, creating a luxurious and personalized space.
  • Space optimization: Fit any bathroom layout, making efficient use of available space. This is especially beneficial for small or irregularly shaped bathrooms, where standard shower enclosures may not fit.
  • Low upkeep: Easy to clean and maintain. Glass is also resistant to mold and mildew, ensuring a hygienic and low-maintenance shower area.
  • Increased natural light: Allows for more natural light to pass through, creating a brighter and more inviting bathroom environment. This can also make the space feel larger and more open.
  • Enhanced durability: Made using tempered or laminated safety glass, which is stronger and more durable than regular glass. This ensures that the enclosure is built to last and withstand daily wear and tear.
  • Added value: Increases the value of a home by adding a touch of luxury and sophistication to the bathroom – an attractive feature for potential buyers.

Glass Type Considerations

Most glass fabricators manufacture shower glass panels with tempered glass – one of the strongest glasses on the market. It’s available in a variety of colors and patterns to satisfy just about any aesthetic requirement.

Tempered glass is considered a safety glass. When it breaks, it’s pieces “pebble,” reducing the chance of injury.

In addition to tempering, you can choose a coated glass, such as ShowerGuard. Baked onto the glass, the coating provides permanent protection against corrosion, staining, and the ugly build-up of soap and mineral particles.

Low-iron glass is also a popular choice for shower glass panels as it maintains its absolute clear tint no matter how thick a piece is. Traditional clear glass tends to display a green/blue hue in thicker pieces. Even very thick pieces of low-iron glass maintain superior clarity and allow more light to seamlessly pass through, allowing for no visual obstructions.

Low-iron glass is one of the clearest glasses on the market. Made using silica with nominal iron content, it can also be tempered and/or laminated for superior strength and durability.
